We were delighted to host students from Uzbekistan and India who visited the Vinum Academicum teaching and research facility in Podgorje as part of the Erasmus programme.
During their stay, the students toured the vineyard and winery, where they became familiar with the equipment used in modern wine production, fermentation and wine storage vessels, as well as facilities for wine ageing and maturation. In the winery, they had the opportunity to observe different stages of the wine production process, from grape processing and fermentation to wine stabilization, cellar management, and preparation for the market.
Special attention was given to the importance of winery hygiene, proper wine storage, temperature control, and basic procedures for monitoring wine quality. Through this professional training, the students gained fundamental knowledge and practical skills in viticulture, oenology, wine gastronomy, and tourism. They also learned how theoretical knowledge is integrated with practical work in a real production environment and explored the role of wine and wine tourism in promoting local traditions and destinations.
